Keller Extends Trash and Recycling Service Through 2031 With Updated Rates |
Keller has approved a five-year contract with Community Waste Disposal for solid waste and recycling collection, effective September 1, 2026 through August 31, 2031. Residential customers will see rates increase by $2.83 per month, bringing the average to $22.97 per month. The contract covers 14,782 residential customers and 340 commercial accounts. |

Starting September 1, 2026, Keller residents will continue to receive their trash and recycling service from Community Waste Disposal under a new five-year contract approved by the City Council. CWD has served Keller since 2010, and this agreement extends that relationship through August 31, 2031.
The residential rate increase under the new contract is $2.83 per month, bringing the average monthly cost to $22.97. Commercial accounts will see a 15.1 percent rate increase. The new rates take effect when the contract begins in September.
The contract adds service options that were not available under the previous agreement. Residents who want more capacity can request a second 95-gallon trash cart at no additional charge. The contract also includes up to 50 hours per year of claw and brush truck service for storm debris removal, which addresses one of the practical realities of Texas weather. After a significant storm event, debris accumulation in residential areas can create extended delays if the collection contract does not include dedicated capacity for it.
The core service package remains unchanged: twice-weekly garbage pickup, weekly recycling collection, yard waste and bulk item collection, one cart-cleaning per year, seasonal leaf collections, and door-side collection of hazardous waste and electronic waste. These services continue for all 14,782 residential customers and 340 commercial accounts currently on CWD's Keller routes.
Mayor Ross McMullin noted the role of resident feedback in the decision: "As mayor and City Council, we believe it's important to listen when residents tell us what's working, and our recent citizen survey results were clear that CWD is meeting, and in many cases exceeding, resident expectations. We appreciate the time and effort all of the bidders in this process and look forward to maintaining the exceptional services our residents and businesses deserve."
For Keller residents with questions about the rate change, the optional 95-gallon cart, or any other service detail, the Keller Utility Billing office can be reached at 817-743-4060. Mark your calendar for the September 1 start date, when the new contract and updated rates take effect. |

Never had a problem with CWD, guys are always friendly. I’ll deal with a few bucks extra for that.
Hope these changes mean no more piles of tree branches sitting out for a month. Fingers crossed.
Big thanks for keeping electronics and hazardous waste pickup. That saves me a trip and a headache. Much needed!
Not too thrilled about another bill increase, but at least we aren’t losing any services. Could've been worse.
Honestly, twice a week pickup is the main thing. We had a different company before and it was always late.
I called about the extra cart and they were super helpful. Hoping it actually gets here fast in September.
Wish there were more chances to clean the bins though. Once a year isn’t enough with summer heat.
15% for businesses seems a lot. Hope smaller shops can manage that ok.
Appreciate the council getting resident feedback. We’ve never really had any big issues with CWD so I’m fine with this.
The storm debris pickup is a smart move. After last spring’s storm our street looked rough for weeks.
Price hike again huh. I guess it’s not too bad if we get better service but still wish it didn’t have to go up.
I'm glad they’re giving us the option for a second trash cart, we always fill ours up and it’s a pain holding extra bags.
